Holidays and Personal Assistants

Almost all workers (people who are employed) are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday from work per year. This is known as statutory leave entitlement or annual leave. This minimum entitlement changes and to keep up to date with this you can call Salvere or go to:

When your Personal Assistant takes annual leave you may need to make alternative arrangements for your care. This could be by using another Personal Assistant who works for you on a casual basis to cover the hours your other employee would work; or it could be by engaging an agency who will support you and can be paid for their services through your budget.

If your Personal Assistant works casual or irregular hours they are still entitled to paid holiday. Whereby the work is casual and the hours changeable then their holiday entitlement this is calculated as an average of the actual hours worked over a period of time. You can get support to calculate this from Salvere or go to: https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement.
